To paraphrase Shakespeare, "Once more unto the breach, dear Seekers, once more!"
Today, we are confronted with the bold and powerful beaded designs of the Central Plains, probably Lakota. Pow! These colors and designs just smack you in the face! Nothing subtle, nothing timid; just bold graphics and colors. This is a “possible bag,” so called by trappers and traders because you could find anything possible inside, and because its foundation is buffalo hide, it dates to 1880 or earlier. I love these bags because the maker had a large field to decorate with beadwork. The white-heart red beads have this glow, which pops against the blue background. This is the epitome of Classic Period Lakota beadwork. And Seekers, it is for sale. Chow for now. -Lonesome
