Dig It - 7/10/23
Well Fellow Seekers, one of my passions is Antique Chinese Snuff Bottles. Below is a small selection from my collection. These are all 18th and 19th century bottles, and all made from stone. They include Rutilated Quartz, Agates, Amethyst, Serpentine, Jade, and Turquoise. As a collector I focus primarily on stone Snuff Bottles, but I do have some glass and porcelain bottles.
So why am I attracted to these little pieces of art? First, my Grandmother and my Mother both collected Snuff Bottles and I was a student of Chinese art and culture in undergraduate school. But the Big Reason is that they are Magical. They have all the splendor and awe of the treasure from Aladdin’s Cave. The colors are dazzlingly brilliant. The shapes are exquisite. They feel sublime.
