Dig It - 9/21/26

Fellow Seekers, I love Native American drums. I love the iconography, which usually captures the maker’s or owner’s world view. I also love the “voice," which is unique to each drum. The scalloped upper border quite possibly represents the sun in silhouette. Below, there is a rainbow and a blue section, which possibly refers to water or the earth? The drum is double-sided like most from the Woodlands/Great Lakes. My guess, based on the pigments, is that the drum dates from the mid- to late-19th century. It has a beautiful voice and great artistic graphics. This drum is a fabulous piece of art and an insight into the beliefs of the people who made it. It is for sale, Seekers!
