Dig It - 9/10/26

Hello Fellow Seekers. You know there is a Seeker inside all of us, maybe some more than others, but thank you for joining us on another exciting adventure into Native American Art and Antiques. Today we are looking at a Northern Plains, probably Blackfoot/Blackfeet, parfleche envelope. This envelope is made out of bison hide and dates to the mid-19th century. Being over 150 years old, it is amazing how bright the colors are in these complex designs. This piece comes from the days of Plains Indian Buffalo Culture, before reservations, when native peoples followed the buffalo herds and sustained a quite complex society based on hunting. The envelope is historically important, and the art ain’t bad either. If you are a Collector, as well as a Seeker, this is a piece you should collect.
