Dig It - 4/9/26
A big howdy out there to all my Fellow Seekers. Today’s bracelet is adorned with beautiful Blue Gem turquoise. This type of turquoise was first mined near Battle Mountain, Nevada, in 1934 by the Copper Canyon Mining Company. While most turquoise is found near or just below the surface, Blue Gem was found about 800 feet down. It is known for its deep blue/green color and hard surface, which takes a high polish.
Considering the turquoise more of a hindrance than an asset, the company that owns the mine stopped mining the turquoise in 1970, turning its attention to only mining precious metals.
I would guess that this bracelet dates to the 1930s. It is 6” from terminal to terminal with just over a 1” gap. This is a really beautiful, simple yet elegant bracelet, and it is for sale! Here is where we part company, Pilgrim. Keep your eyes on the horizon and your powder dry. -Lonesome
