Dig It - 9/4/25
Well Fellow Seekers, are you ready for another exciting adventure in early Navajo jewelry? I can’t wait, so let’s get started! This is quite a heavy bracelet, both in terms of the weight of silver as well as the turquoise stones. My guess is that it dates from the 1920s to the 1940s. The workmanship is superb, with fine twisted wire and perfectly soldered silver balls. This guy knew what he was doing. The turquoise is a beautiful blue/green, and the stones are cut thick. This is one of the reasons I think this has some age. In the last 70 years or so the lapidary stone cutter would have cut those stones in half to get two thin slices instead of one thick stone. When this bracelet was made, great stones were relatively abundant, with no need to stretch. It is a wonderful piece, Fellow Seekers, and would look spectacular on any one of you. All the best, Lonesome.
