Dig It - 9/11/25

Hello once again Fellow Seekers. You know, while I was at graduate school at N.Y.U., I worked part-time for some of the top tribal art dealers in New York City to earn money to live. This was the 1980s, and New York was in shambles, and luckily, living was cheap. One of the objects I coveted was a Cheyenne Bar Bag like this one. Now this was right after the famous Greene Sale at Sotheby’s and the two great exhibitions, Sacred Circles and Native American Heritage. Antique Native American art was just becoming fashionable, and prices were beginning to rise. Now one of my bosses at the time kept saying he could get me a good bar bag for $500, which was a lot of money for a graduate student working his way through school. Well, my boss never found one, and in six months the price was up to $750, then $1,500, then $2,500, then $5,000, and so forth. Well, I never thought I was going to get a great Cheyenne bar bag; they kept getting out of my reach. Finally, years later and far exceeding $500, I finally got a great one. Sorry Seekers, this one is a keeper and not for sale. Keep on seeking, keep searching. -Lonesome
