Dig It - 9/1/23

Wow Wee Zowie! Okay Fellow Seekers, normally I don’t buy this type of bracelet. I usually look for the earlier simpler bracelets, but this piece just astounded me with the virtuosity of the craft of silver smithing. This piece is very similar to bracelets made by Fred and Frank Peshlakai, with very elaborate embellishments and use of high grade turquoise. It is not signed or hallmarked and I do not believe it was made by one of the Peshlakais, but it was certainly made by someone heavily influenced by them.

The bracelet appears to be ingot silver and the three chisel split-shank that the stone and stamped plates are applied to is relatively heavy. My guess is that it was made sometime from the 1920s to 1950. The juxtaposition between the earlier, simple stamping on the plates and the elaborate, almost fussy, Victorian treatment around the stone is very interesting. I don’t know, but somehow it works beautifully. This bracelet is for sale so call or Email me.
