Dig It: What I Have To Do To Get This Great Stuff!

Hello Fellow Seeker! I don’t know if you pilgrims are aware of what old Lonesome has to go through to get some of these treasures. It were the second year of the Albuquerque show. I had spent the night before in a 5-star motel that was so scuzzy I had to sleep with my socks on, the rug was so disgusting. The place was a human Petrie dish. Lord, if I had turned on the black light I carry, the place would have lit up like the Vegas Strip.

Well, I got down to the show before 7am, which was a bit early for my liking. I was set up at one of those long, central tables next to Front Range Bob. He put some stuff down on the table and promptly left. I spent the morning searching for that one “Great Thing” but to no avail. To add insult to injury, I had one person come over and ask me the price on a pair of fabulous Zuni chandelier earrings, and I said, “Seven Fifty.” An hour later she came back and asked me if I would take 5 dollars for them. I was polite and said, “Do you mean to tell me that you thought these earrings were $7.50 not $750 and you walked away.” Well, I knew it was the wrong venue for me. But I digress.

About 2pm, after lunch, Bob comes waltzing back into the show and puts this Ketoh and about three other pieces of equally great silver down on the table. I bought every one of ‘em. I did not have to sleep in a scuzz bucket motel, I did not have to get up at 6 AM. I did not have to take abuse from the General Public. All that I had to do, and should have done, was show up after lunch. Now maybe you Seekers have an idea of what a prospector like Lonesome has to do to strike Gold or Silver. Yippie Tie One On!
