Dig It!

This necklace is such a tour de force, that it sucks all the oxygen out of the room - BAM!

It is Navajo, made sometime in the early 20th century, perhaps 1910 to 1930. In this period, Navajo silversmiths had more access to better tools and technology and as a result their work is more sophisticated and “slick”. The necklace is quite heavy showing that financially the Navajo were a lot better off during this time than they were at the end of the 19th century. This was most likely made for Native use, and it is easy to picture this necklace on a velveteen blouse.
