Dig It - 7/14/25

Well Seekers, It was a number of years ago I started to buy great cut pieces of turquoise and have them mounted in 18-karat gold bezels. Man, I had this one “killer” pin set with a large turquoise stone with every color/shade of blue, green, and even purple. I wore it on my jacket lapel to the opening of the August shows, and by the end of the night it was gone, vanished, nowhere to be found. Was it lost or stolen? I will never know, but it was a BUMMER! Now I never wear a pin without one of those little plastic keepers. Well one has to accept loss and move on. I will admit it took a while.

Anyway, eventually I got my shit together and went to one of the big wholesalers of turquoise and looked through his stock. There was room after room of turquoise, most rough-cut in jars, of which there were hundreds. It took hours and hours to search through this stuff, with the result of finding nothing close to the stone I had lost. Forlorn, I asked the owner if he had anything else. He sized me up and then opened the safe. Wow! The piece I found was nothing like the one I lost, but boy, it was way cool! The galena inclusions in the center of the stone look like intertwined dragons, and the blue is much more “electric” than in the photo. Well Fellow Seekers, I still miss my old pin, but I love this one! I still have a few pins left to sell, so let me know if you are interested. Lonesome
