Dig It - 4/28/25
Well alrighty then! Strap in Fellow Seekers cause we are going for another fabulous ride into the past...past...past (echo). This tobacco bag is from the Northern Plains, most likely from one of the members of the Blackfoot Confederation. It is made of smoke-tanned hide, a process peculiar to the north. I believe it is buffalo hide, because it has that spongy quality.
When I left Morning Star 35 years ago to go out on my own, I put together an ad with three or four Northern Plains bags because I loved their Art and they were so damn affordable. Those bags were good but I did not have one on this level. The beadworker who made this bag used white-heart red beads for the the background. The white-hearts were always a premium bead so she was being very extravagant. This bag has two "A" sides and is one of the best from this region that I have ever seen. Fellow Seekers, I think I am about ready to part with it. Contact me if you are interested. Lonesome
