Dig It - 3/24/25
Well Fellow Seekers, I figure, you deserve a great post for putting up with me. Here is a superb “toy” size Cheyenne Cradle, probably from the 1880s. It is truly special for several reasons. First is the powder blue background when most Cheyenne cradles have a white bead background. Second are the so-called “Dogs” beaded on the sides. Now some folks think they are dogs and others think they are deer. I don’t know. I’ve got no Dog in that fight. Get it? Lastly, this came out of Paul Dyke's collection and it was purchased from his lawyer.
Now Paul Dyke was a true character, the kind you just don’t see any more. He was an artist, collector of Indian lore and artifacts, and lived with a number of Native American peoples, especially the Blackfoot. Most of his collection went to the Plains Indian Museum in Cody, Wyoming. Masterpieces are hard to come by and this is an opportunity for a Fellow Seeker to get one out of my collection. Adios, Lonesome.
