Dig It - 3/4/24

Hello Fellow Seekers. I ran this as an advertisement many, many years ago. These are all Elk Antler Scrapers. Now by that, I mean they are made out of the antlers of an Elk. That flat part at the top is where a blade fits in and then the blade is wound around with lashing to hold it in place.

These were tools used by women of all the Plains Indian Tribes to chip away and scape the hides from buffalo, elk, deer an so on. Some of the notches and designs are suppose to represent the number of hides worked by the scraper’s owner. I set up the shot like this because the scrapers remind me of birds.
