Dig It - 7/31/23
Well Hello Fellow Seekers! Today we are going to look at a late 19th - early 20th Century Silver Button Decorated Leather pouch. These were worn by Navajo men back then, and are still worn today on special occasions. This is an especially superb example with the scalloped and stamped edges on a very fine commercial leather flap. The large, plain silver button may have been the original 19th century button decoration, with the turquoise stone button being added in the 1890s, or perhaps very early 1900s. The pouch was collected in the 1920s at Santo Domingo Pueblo. Seek Out!!
