Dig It - 11/16/23

Well Hello Fellow Seekers, Dig this Apache Awl Case. I think it is the Best one I have ever seen. The case is 16” long and 2.5” wide. I am not sure which group made this, but my guess, based on the use of yellow ochre and its elaborate construction, is that it is Western Apache.

It certainly shows how important awls were amongst the Apache. The Apache women used awls both for making baskets as well as working with hides. This case was obviously made to wear on special occasions showing superior talent of the female wearer. This over the top piece is for sale.
