Dig it!
The painter, Mark Rothko tried to capture that Moment of Creation when he was doing his large Multiforms. He called the point of contact or gap between the large rectangular color fields, “The Breath of Life.”
The painting on this simple Plains gourd rattle has captured the Spark of Creation, that Breath of Life. For me, this object is one of the great Masterpieces of art. It’s maker knew about the great mysteries of the world and life and through this simple abstract painting, they were able capture and express these concepts.
